A free teleprompter for iPhone and iPad

Reframely runs in Safari on iPhone and iPad, with no App Store download or subscription. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen like an app.

Step by step: pair a remote with no internet

  1. Turn on a hotspot. No Wi-Fi on set? Turn on the hotspot on either phone and join the other device to it. No internet is needed after that.
  2. Pair → No internet. On the prompter, open Pair and choose No internet. It shows a QR code that holds the whole connection offer.
  3. The phone scans it… Scan with the phone. It opens the remote and shows an answer code of its own.
  4. …and the prompter scans back. Hold the phone up to the prompter’s camera. The two devices link directly over the hotspot, with no server in between.

Set it up

  1. Open Reframely in Safari and tap Open prompter.
  2. For full screen, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, and open Reframely from the new icon. Safari on iPhone doesn't allow web pages to go full screen otherwise.
  3. Choose Your rig in the sliders menu to match your setup.
  4. Pair a second phone as the remote.

iPhone and iPad tips

  • Keyboard missing? A connected Bluetooth clicker hides the on-screen keyboard. Here's how to edit anyway.
  • Voice follow works in Safari; allow the microphone when asked.
  • iPad size: most rigs take up to 11-inch iPads. The Glide Gear TMP 100 doesn't fit a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
  • Auto-Lock: Reframely asks Safari to keep the screen on while the prompter is open; if your iPhone still dims, raise Auto-Lock in Settings while recording.

Which iPad or iPhone for which rig

  • iPhone: phone rigs such as the Glide Gear TMP 50 and 75, Padcaster Parrot or Ulanzi RT02, or reading from the same phone while you film yourself.
  • iPad mini and 10 to 11-inch iPads: most tablet rigs, such as the Glide Gear TMP 100 or Neewer X12.
  • 12.9 and 13-inch iPad Pro: only rigs that take large tablets, such as the Moman MT12. Check the rig's maximum size first.

Settings that stop surprises

  • Focus: turn on Do Not Disturb or a recording Focus so a call or banner doesn't cover the script.
  • True Tone and Night Shift: turn them off under glass; they warm the screen and reduce contrast through the beam splitter.
  • Low Power Mode: it can shorten Auto-Lock and slow animation. Keep the device plugged in for long sessions instead.
  • Guided Access: on an iPad that others operate, Guided Access keeps the prompter on screen and stops anyone leaving it by accident.

No Wi-Fi on set?

Pairing a phone remote doesn't need the internet. Turn on the iPhone's hotspot, join the iPad to it, and pair from Pair → No internet with two QR scans. The walkthrough above shows each step.

Questions

Is there a free teleprompter for iPhone without a subscription?

Reframely's teleprompter is free in Safari, with nothing to subscribe to. The phone remote and voice follow are part of Reframely Pro, bought for a week or a year at a time with no auto-renewal.

Can my iPhone be the remote for an iPad?

Yes, with Reframely Pro on the iPad. Open Reframely on both, start the prompter on the iPad and tap Remote on the iPhone.
